CREATIVE APPROACH

PLANNING & DISCOVERY

Detailed planning and a deep understanding of the client’s goals are at the foundation of a successful creative partnership. It begins with a conversation of about the client’s objectives, project’s location, photo usage requirements and timeline for completion. If exteriors are required, the structure’s orientation to the sun will determine the best time of day to shoot. For interior projects, advance scouting of the shooting space is highly encouraged, but Jack Cook Photography recognizes that such a request cannot always be accommodated. And finally, a shot list will be discussed prior to the shoot, serving as the blueprint for the entire photo project..

SHOOTING METHOD

Jack Cook Photography incorporates a diverse toolbox of digital capture techniques that come together to visually tell a comprehensive story. No two spaces are alike and therefore, each image is composed and lighted in a manner to accentuate different materials, textures & design elements. Natural light will often do the heavy lifting in the final images. However, when artificial light in needed, Jack uses a wide array of light-shaping modifiers to achieve a desired effect, from soft boxes and umbrellas to honeycomb grids and beauty dishes.

Jack Cook Photography encourages a collaborative environment throughout the shooting process. All photo shoots involve the camera being wirelessly tethered to an iPad. By sharing the composition of each image on a large digital screen with the client, the client is ensured the most important elements of the space are captured exactly intended.

DIGITAL POST-PROCESSING

Post-processing may include any combination of color correction, object removal (such as fire alarms, loose wires, etc.), lighting adjustments and perspective adjustments. Multiple exposures are seamlessly blended using advanced compositing techniques to create a single beautiful image. Once editing is completed, digital images are uploaded to a private client proofing gallery. Clients are encouraged to provide feedback before final delivery.

IMAGE DELIVERY

Once final payment is received, clients can download the hi-res image files via Dropbox. TIFF files are the default image delivery format; however, JPEGS can also be included by request. Requests for RAW files cannot be accommodated, as Jack Cook Photography retains full ownership of all images. However, clients will be granted a non-exclusive usage license that typically includes unlimited usage rights in perpetuity.
